If you know me, you know how much I love music. I’m constantly on the lookout for new artists, new genres, and new songs to obsess over! Music is a part of my personality, a way I express myself - just like so many others. A few months ago, my friend Josh shared with me an artist he had been listening to - and her name was Maude Latour.

Maude Latour is a young, up-and-coming Indie Pop artist based in New York City. She’s a philosophy major at Columbia University, with creating music being her side hustle (and her life’s passion). The rich, bright energetic feel of her sound is absolutely irresistible. To quote an article written about Maude by Impose Magazine, “You know the moment: warm summer night, windows down driving through the city, coming home late from a party, the world seemingly has become your oyster, and the soundtrack to your life playing on the speakers is solidifying the experience into a moment you can and will relive over and over. Maude Latour wants to be that soundtrack.”

The music of Maude Latour promotes freedom, loving the people around you, seeing the beauty in life, as well as telling stories about her own experiences in life through cleverly crafted lyrics and memorable melodies. If you’re keen to know who her music inspirations are, Maude says she grew up listening to artists like Queen and ABBA and moved on to become a Lana Del Ray fan, as well as Lorde! (In fact, lots of people say her voice sounds like Lorde’s).

Something that I love about Maude Latour is that her music exudes passion. When I hear her performances, or listen to her tracks, I can feel how much she loves what she does. Her creativity and humbleness are admirable.

Maude has been making music since she was in high school and recently started to professionally pursue her craft as an independent artist. She has several songs, and one EP—titled “Starsick.” As of recently, her songs have been gaining more and more popularity—people have been realizing the uniqueness and vibrance of her sound!

I hope that I helped introduce you to a new music artist today, and I hope that you enjoy her incredible music as much as I do.

Check out one of her most popular songs titled “One More Weekend.”
